It took me a little while, but I finally got to listen to the new "Detour Ahead: The Music of Billie Holiday" album.
It's super-smooth, gorgeous, and chock full of Jukes and other fabulous musicians.

One listen on Spotify and you'll want to take it home with you.
Luckily, the album is available here on the Southside Johnny store http://popmusicmerch.com/asburyjukes/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=67 and on iTunes https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/detour-ahead-the-music-of-billie-holiday/1347409787!

Southside and Steven Van Zandt are extraordinary; together, Magical.
Hopefully, in our lifetime, there will be a REUNION. The zen question is: Why Not?

marksie wrote:I finally got off my duff and downloaded Southside's live "Men Without Women" from I-tunes the other day. Probably hesitated because I've never been a big fan of live albums, but this one is a killer!! The band was smokin' that night, very impressed as to how faithful they were to Steven's original LP which I still play on a fairly regular basis. Really enjoyed hearing South sing "Lyin in a Bed of Fire" and "Save Me", two of my favorites, but truthfully, there isn't a bad song in the bunch.. Jeff's take on the title track is also a highlite... My 22 year old was home the other day and recognized the music right away because his roommate has the original vinyl lp, asked when Southside recorded it, he couldn't believe it was a live recording, he thought it sounded that good!! Haven't stopped listening to it..

Very much enjoyed the Kingston film. Thank you. I wonder how The Lead Singer knows what kind of records to look for in terms of value, history, and well, soul.

Mr. Fashion...For the Man Who Cares.

I remember well The Boss's comment: "If Mr. Fashion don't see it Southside don't wear it!"

P.S. Found in a dressing room...hmmmm.

Hi Peaches! Legend has it that Johnny found the coat hanging in one of the dressing rooms backstage and couldn’t let the opportunity to make a grand entrance go by.

So I guess he’s Mr. Fashion now!

Greetings all,

First-time contributor, but long-time fan.

I was part of what can be called the few, but mighty at the Hard Rock show in Orlando on Sunday night (Oct. 15).
Thanks for a fun night.
This show was added on short notice after the Key West show had to be cancelled (re: Hurricane Irma damage). Sunday's show was a benefit for Feeding South Florida.

Special shoutout for Brandon, the man with the saxophone. Never heard his last name, but every time he was called upon he came up with an impressive performance.

So here is my attempt at the setlist, unofficial and with a few gaps.
Any help will be appreciated. I need to work on my note-taking.

1. ?
2. I Played the Fool
3. ?
4. Love on the Wrong Side of Town with penmypaper
5. ?
6. Don't Waste My Time
7. On the Beach
8. Walk Away Renee/?
9. Talk To Me
10. This Time It's for Real
11. Ride the Night Away
12. Ain't Nobody's Bizness
13. ?
13. It's Been A Long Time (with a father and his two sons from the audience)
14. All Night Long?
15. Without Love
16. Mexican Divorce/Up on the Roof
17. All I Want is Everything
18. Refuge (Tom Petty tribute)
19. I Don't Want to Go Home

First Encore
20. The Fever
21. Working Too Hard

Second Encore
22. What's Going On

Band lineup
Southside Johnny, vocals, harmonica
Jeff Kazee, keyboards
John Conte, bass
Glenn Alexander, guitar
Tom Seguso, drums
Brandon ?, sax
Chris Anderson, trumpet
Neal Pawley, trombone

Hum....That nice...
Thanks for it

Attention Long Island Area Jukes Fans!

I have one second row ticket to the December 10 show at The Paramount in Huntington, but I have a conflict and can't go. I have seen the Jukes several times at The Paramount and it is a great venue. The opening act, The Weight Band, is also excellent and opened for the Jukes at The Stone Pony Summer Stage show in July. Ticket is $85. Please send me a PM if interested. Thanks. Steve

2. I Played the Fool
3. ?
4. Love on the Wrong Side of Town

For those looking for live videos of Southside and the band, check out www.setlist.fm. Search for SSJ, and click on the concert you want to hear. Some of them have videos from the show, although many are just taken from the respective album. Worth a look, anyway. Enjoy!

Any hope of using nugs.net or other service to get one of these shows in high quality?

Even the one hour PBS 13 show would be awesome. The set lists, the consistent reports of performance, the inclusion of new material...all suggest selling download copies the shows!
